Defend Colorado Now press conference and rally April 27, 2006

Will kick off signature gathering phase of initiative

April 24, 2006

April 24, 2006 (Lakewood, CO): Defend Colorado Now (DCN) will hold a news conference and rally on Thursday, April 27, 2006, at 11 AM on the west steps of the State Capitol. The purpose of the news conference will be to present DCN's petition signature-gathering action plan. Petitions will be circulated at the rally.

DCN Co-chair John Andrews noted that the 2006 initiative wording is practically identical to the 2004 wording. "Even though our opposition has tried unfairly to delay us in the Colorado Supreme Court, we anticipate the Court will rule in our favor, just as they did in 2004," he stated.

"We have incredible built-up energy in the form of grassroots petition circulators," noted DCN Co-chair Fred Elbel. "Volunteers will be gathering thousands upon thousands of signatures in the very near future."

DCN leader Dick Lamm stated "Our recent cost study reveals the incredible magnitude of the illegal immigration crisis. Our initiative will reduce - both directly and indirectly - the tremendous costs associated with supporting illegal aliens in Colorado."
